There are many search engines by which to record your own website for free (there are more than 1500). Once you have chosen search engine, you should try to appear among the top three positions. And ‘in fact demonstrated that a user who surfs the internet does not exceed 30 positions of search on a search engine. We know, however, that it is easier to look at the top of the search. A key aspect is, however, that relying only on the major search engines, ie those that give at least 80% of visits.

Instead, those at the international level are: Google, Altavista, Yahoo, Lycos, MSN Search, Excite. In order to register on these search engines, little information is needed for some, while others require more information and undertake to fill in various fields. For example, to register for the Altavista search engine you need the web address or address mail, while others prompted a detailed description of your site and other information.

The webmaster, or the person who runs the site, will tell the search engine of the existence of the site itself is not the search engines themselves to detect and record the Web sites available on the Internet as many believe.

To be able to register as a search engine must follow three basic steps that are connected to a specific page of registration which is located on each engine, then report the web address of your site and then wait for the search to proceed ‘enter and check. Once you have registered your website’s search engine, this will not be immediately inserted into the database, but there are lead times before they will be inserted. Recording times vary depending on the search engine and start a few days up to a few months.

For example, Yahoo, the average time of registration vary from two to six weeks, on Virgil from three to five weeks and so on for other search engines. Recently, some search engines are now recording times longer. This is explained by the number of web pages that are on the internet and thus increase the number of requests coming in on the search engines in order to register. To make sure your website is registered in the right way, you can make the checks. Simply connect to the search engine and enter as a search key the address of its website or, as happens on Altavista, enter the keyword “host” followed by the web on its website.
